Not to be confused with the Apex KS Verse (2001)

Overview[]

The 2001 Apex KS Verse 2 (Formerly 2001 BKM S3 GTR) was a German sports car in Driving Empire and was added on May 21st, 2022 as one of the featured limited vehicles. Alongside its successor, the 2010 Apex Prod Fast, which it is not to be confused with, it was one of 4 limited vehicles available for purchase, with the other two being the 1995 Apex RS9 KS Easy and the 2015 Labhrann X8 Track. It was available for 5 days and costed $298,545, resulting in it selling reasonably well; 24,726 were bought.

This vehicle is based off of the E46-generation BMW M3 GTR Strassenversion, made famous by the 2005 video game Need For Speed: Most Wanted, where the cover art shows the GTR in a custom silver and blue livery. The M3 GTR Strassenversion is the road-legal version of the M3 GTR built for homologation purposes. It was powered by a 4-litre V8 engine, although detuned from the race car's 444 hp to 382 hp at 7,000 rpm. The car was equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and could hit a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h), while carbon fibre parts reduced the dry weight to 1,350 kg. Of a claimed 10 cars, only 6 were built, including 3 prototypes.

Performance[]

The 2001 BKM S3 GTR features similar performance to its successor, the 2010 Apex Prod Fast, despite costing over double the price. As such, its performance does not fit its pricing. Its top speed of 187 mph is only capable of beating slow luxury cars, as supercars at this point mostly break the 200-mph barrier. Its acceleration is slow, despite being a slight improvement to its successor, resulting in it being unable to keep up with most other vehicles. Its handling is average, and can outcorner some vehicles at this price point, but its lacking acceleration and top speed results in it being left behind on straights. Therefore, like the 1995 Apex RS9 KS Easy, this vehicle is better off competing against vehicles much cheaper than it, resulting in it being a decent collector vehicle, but not a decent racer.

Trivia[]

  • On the 28th of November 2022, whenever the player would spawn this vehicle, it would spawn two cars of the same model instead of one. This was fortunately patched a day later.
