The Manual of Style is a general handbook that is used to structure articles on the Driving Empire Wiki. This is an essential article for all contributors to follow as it outlines the guidelines that should be acknowledged when it comes to creating or editing articles.

For new users on FANDOM, the official Community Central site has created several articles on how to add images, categories, etc. to articles. Users may refer to the Help:Contributing article on Community Central for an in-depth guide on how to edit. Users with more experience are recommended to use the Source Editor as it performs more complex actions (e.g. adding templates, changing text coloring). For users new to FANDOM, it is recommended to use Visual Editor to edit.

Wording & Grammar

  • When it comes to writing articles, use American English as its the preferred variation in English orthography. For example, use the word "analyze" instead of "analyse."
  • When it comes to linking an article (e.g. 2020 Egg Yesgo) on an article (e.g. 2020 Egg Hydra), there should only be one or two links on that article. (On some exceptions, three or four.)
    • Any more than the limit said will result as misconduct of the Manual of Style.
  • Users may not use slangs words (e.g. "u, ur, crims, cop, rozzers, etc.") as they are not acceptable on wiki articles.
  • Users should avoid using abbreviations (e.g. aka, btw, atm, etc.) when writing.
  • When it comes to referring the reader, they must be referred in third-person words (e.g. "Users" and "Players") and gender-neutral pronouns (they/their/them). Users should never write in a first or second-person perspective as it creates a bias toward the reader.
    • To refer any player on a team inside the game, users must use words such as police officers, criminals, citizens or prisoners.
  • Users should not make any personalized opinions on a vehicle or any other feature inside a game. For example, calling the vehicle trash/terrible car due to its bad handling and/or acceleration.
    • Users must also make sure the fact is true and not a conspiracy or assumption.
    • Users must also not exaggerate a fact. For example, "Driving Empire is the best driving game".
    • Instead, users should write out the advantages and disadvantages of the car without any sort of bias to let the reader make their own decision on it.
  • Users must not add any unhelpful facts or dull jokes on an article. For example, "The 2020 Veloce Hurricane can't commit a 0-60 in 1.9s".
  • Users should avoid bolding, italicizing, or capitalizing text indefinitely as a way to exaggerate or note something.
    • Users may bold the first word that is the page's name in the Overview Section. For example, "The 2020 Veloce F37 is an Italian supercar in Driving Empire and was added on July 9th, 2022".
    • Users may italicize words that regard a major update or event. Just to note, this rule does not apply to dates.
    • Additionally, users may italicize words related to the content of the game, including the main game name (e.g. Bourgist, Hacreey, Avxnturador, etc.).

Vehicles

  • Users should avoid adding any real-world information about the vehicle after the main the introduction sentence. Most readers are expecting information about the vehicle in-game for its performance.
    • Leave real-world information to about a couple sentences at best. Any additional information about the vehicle in real-life should be moved to the Trivia section.
    • Users should also avoid adding any information about the vehicle from another Driving Game.
  • Users should not create articles about fake cars unless they are a dealership limited with serial numbers.
    • Exclusive event cars are also not allowed to have their own articles be created about them.

Images and Videos

  • Images should not include any of the Roblox player or core game UI (e.g. Cursor, buttons, etc.), the user's avatar, or other players. This rule does not apply to players who are personalizing their Fandom Profile.
  • For images that contain Roblox avatars to present something, they must be a noob-like figure or wear default clothing.
  • Images must be taken at the highest graphics without any use of filters such as Roblox Shaders or any sort of filter mod that drastically changes the appearance of the image.
  • Images are much more preferred in the day-time as the content is more visible that way.
  • Images are also preferred to be taken with as low a FOV as possible so that the vehicle takes up more of the image, thus resulting in higher quality photos.
  • Images must have an acceptable quality for the reader to see. Any low-quality images will be removed unless its for the use of personalizing the user's Fandom profile.

Page Formatting

Headings and Infoboxes

  • Every article on this wiki should have an Overview, Infobox, Gallery, and Trivia section, respectively.
    • However, there are some exceptions for specific articles to have their own specific section (e.g. Updates, Vehicles, Passes, Badges, etc.) as long as they relate to the subject of the article.
    • Vehicle articles are required to have a Performance section.
    • Just to note, Infoboxes are not required for every article on this wiki. The only articles that do require an infoboxes are vehicle and location articles
    • Do not add any unneeded sections that do or do not relate to the article's topic. For example, an individual section that explains a game-breaking bug that was linked to a vehicle which made it extremely overpowered.

Categories

  • Users should only add categories that are important to the article (e.g. Vehicles, Locations, Gameplay, etc.).
    • Avoid adding any unneccessary categories. (e.g. Vehicles that go over 200 MPH+, Pickup Trucks, SUVs, etc.)
    • Users must also make sure that the categories are arranged logically. For example, the Vehicles category should be the first category listed on the article. The rest of the categories (e.g. Off-sale Vehicles, British Vehicles, Bodykit Vehicles) can be listed after.
    • Avoid adding any duplicate categories such as Cars (This category is an exact duplicate of the Vehicles category).
