Overview[]
The Empire Taxi Event (also referred as the Taxi Event) was the sixth event to be released by Driving Empire. The event featured a battlepass, which required Stars to obtain the prizes. Players would need to collect Stars by picking up and dropping off passengers around the map.
The event was released on March 24, 2023, and is set to end on March 31, 2023.
A second running of this event started in April 15, 2023 and should end in April 21, 2023, with 3 new prize cars.
Event[]
As said previously, Stars are collected through picking up and dropping off passengers around the map. The passengers can be found next to buildings or on the sidewalk of a road with a green beacon surrounding the NPC. The NPCs ranged from their friends list or game developers from Driving Empire or Voldex. Player would need to be in a vehicle that seats at least two people and be in the green beacon to pick up the passenger. Once the passenger has been picked up, the player will have an arrow that point to the drop-off point. While driving to the destination point, the player should note a couple of things. First of all, the multiplier located at the top of their screen should update when the bar drops below a star rating (e.g. 1.5x Multipler - 3 Stars). While the player drives to the drop-off point, the bar will drop at a different speed depending on the distance from the pick up to the drop off point. The multipler will drop faster if the players sit still for too long, crash at a high speed, or drive into a destructible object (e.g. streetlights, signs, etc.). Once the player drops the passenger off at a destination point (the green beacon), they'll be rewarded with cash and Stars.
Passenger Difficulty[]
Each passenger that is picked up has their own difficulty. The difficulty ranges with distance, the rating of the passenger, and the money earned from dropping off the passenger. The higher the difficulty, with the addition of the longer distance to the drop-off point, the more cash the player will receive from dropping off the passenger. Though, despite the difficulty, the maximum stars the player can earn is 3.
Difficulty | Rating | Notes |
---|---|---|
0 - 4.9 | Multiplier bar will drop slowly. Distance to the Drop off point should be in close proximity of the pick up point. | |
5 - 6.9 | Multiplier bar will drop a bit quicker than the Easy difficulty. Distance to the Drop off point should be a bit farther, but still in close proximity of the pick up point. | |
7 - 10 | Multiplier bar will drop faster as you drive to the location. Distance of the Drop off point should be pretty far from the Pick up point. |

Prizes[]
All prizes range from vehicles, cash, and customization. The first rank that requires 1 will give the player $15,000. After completing the first reward, players have the option to grind or to pay Robux to unlock the rewards. Once the player has finished claiming all the rewards featured in the event, they can keep obtaining 100 stars to get $100,000.
Taxi Sign Customization[]
This can be obtained by acquiring 30 or by paying 159 during the event. Players can equip this sign on top of their vehicle that features Police Mode customization. Similar to equipping Police Mode, it costs $10,000 to purchase.

Trivia[]
- Unlike most of the events that happened in Driving Empire, this is the first to not be considered a seasonal event (e.g. Halloween or Christmas).
- This is the first event to feature the use of a battlepass system.
- Originally, players have speculated that the new Taxi leak would've been a new job.
- It is unknown whether the gameplay mechanics used in the event would return as a permanent new job for the game.
- This event is currently tied with the Halloween 2022 Event for the shortest event in Wayfort/Driving Empire history.
- This is the first event to feature a customization option that doesn't relate to wraps, rims, or spoilers.
- The song played in the background whenever you take your passenger around the map is "Music to Drive By by Alan Moorhouse".
- The event can be somewhat compared to the Winter 2020 and 2022 Event's due to the reused mechanics.
- For example, the arrows that point the player to the drop off point and the pad that picks up or drops off the objective.
- This event has received some criticism by players due to the mechanics and UIs being quite similar to another Roblox game, Taxi Boss.
