Overview

Jobs, also referred to as Teams, are one of the gameplay mechanics in Driving Empire. There are currently four teams in total with only 3 of them being joinable. Players may switch teams by clicking on the Jobs icon (briefcase button) located on the bottom left of their screen. Clicking the button will open a menu of 3 buttons which lead to 3 different teams, Citizens, Criminals, and Police.

Jobs

Citizens

Citizens are ordinary citizens and is the default team players are placed into when joining the game. They do not get any items and cannot be arrested unless they have bounty on them. They can obtain bounty by avoiding speed traps at a decent enough speed, or by driving on the wrong side of the road. This is the job most players chose to play due to it being mostly hassle-free (e.g. not being chased by cops).

Criminals

Criminals are individuals that break the law. They are a job that is manually chosen by the player. When switched to this team, the player will immediately given access to two weapons and can kill Police and other criminals, but not Civilians. They cannot be arrested by Police if they have no bounty to their name. If they shoot other criminals, they get an extra 250 bounty.

Police

Police are individuals that enforce the law. They are currently the only job that requires a gamepass to unlock and is a job manually chosen by the player. When switched, the player will immediately be given handcuffs, which are used to arrest those with bounty or those on the criminal team. They are also given weapons, which can only kill criminals. They are also given a Radar gun which can be used to track a player vehicle's speed.

Prisoners

The fourth job, Prisoners, is the only job that cannot be selected from the jobs menu. Prisoners are those with bounty or those from the criminal team who have been arrested by players on the Police team. When given this job, they are immediately teleported to a jail cell in the Police Station and have to wait out a timer. There are two ways to bypass this timer: by using cash to pay off the remaining jail time, which scales with how much bounty you have, or by using the Free Bail gamepass to get out for free.

Trivia

  • Originally, both the Police and Criminal teams were given their own specific spawnpoints. Criminals would spawn at the Criminal base while the Police would spawn at the Police Station. This feature was unfortunately removed on May 21, 2022.
  • There is currently a glitch where police officers can arrest other police officers with a bounty on their team.
  • There is also a bug in which if the player resets the Police or Criminal Teams, their items disappear.
  • On June 8, 2022, there were two glitches that occurred on both the Police and Criminal Teams. These glitches were later patched.
    • The first glitch was where the items were unusable and the player's arm moved up and down.
    • The second glitch was where equipping any item made the player's arm disappear.
  • On January 6, 2023, the positions of the Jobs button was swapped with the locations button. With that, the jobs was also given a new color scheme similar to the settings button. Despite the cosmetic changes, the functionality has remained the same.
