This vehicle is about the regular RX-7. For the Veilside bodykit variant, see Raynix U14 Peel (1990).

Overview

The 1998 Raynix U14 V-Type is a Japanese sports car that was introduced to Driving Empire on November 4, 2021, as an event vehicle for the 2021 Driving Empire Halloween Event. It was later remeshed and brought onsale, where it remains. Players can purchase this vehicle for $92,996.

The Raynix U14 V-Type was originally a part of the 2021 Driving Empire Halloween Event. It served as the least expensive vehicle in the event, requiring only 600 Pumpkins for purchase. The vehicle originally lacked any opening features, and the pop-up lights were never concealed. However, the vehicle was brought onsale and remeshed, receiving opening features, working pop-up headlamps, and bodykit options.

The U14 V-Type is based on the Mazda RX-7, which is a front/mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, rotary engine-powered sports car that was manufactured and marketed by Mazda from 1978 to 2002 across three generations, all of which made use of a compact, lightweight Wankel rotary engine.

The first generation of the RX-7, SA (early) and FB (late), was a two-seater 2 door hatchback coupé. It featured a 12A carbureted rotary engine as well as the option for a 13B with electronic fuel injection in later years.

The second generation of RX-7, known as the FC, was offered as a 2-seater coupé with a 2+2 option available in some markets, as well as in a convertible body style. This was powered by the 13B rotary engine, offered in naturally aspirated or turbocharged forms.

The third generation of the RX-7, known as the FD, was offered a 2+2-seater coupé with a limited run of a 2-seater option. This featured a sequentially turbocharged 13B REW engine.

Performance

The U14 V-Type is primarily held back by its age, which is responsible for inferior stats when compared to modern sports cars within the same price range. Due to this, the U14 V-Type has a low top speed, a 0-60 time that rivals pickup trucks rather than sports cars, and slightly below-average handling. When combined, this makes the U14 V-Type a vehicle lacking in decent performance.

When maxed out, the vehicle barely reaches 200 mph without boost. The vehicle struggles to handle circuit corners at higher speeds, even when maxed out. The main advantage of this vehicle is fairly consistent acceleration, but that is not enough to make the U14 V-Type an even match with other cars. Comparisons to vehicles around the same age are mover favorable, but this does not help the vehicle very much.

As a result, the U14 V-Type is better suited to be a collector's vehicle, and should be purchased. later on, due to better starters such as the AMG C63 Coupe Edition 507 and Shelby GT350R.
