Overview[]
The Games 2024 Event (Also known as The Games Event) was the twelfth event in Driving Empire. Released as Driving Empire's contribution to the platform-wide ROBLOX The Games Event, it lasted from August 1, 2024, to August 11, 2024.
The event used Silvers as the sole currency method. This currency could only be earned by completing the Obstacle Course Race in either Multiplayer or Solo Mode. Silvers were used to earn various rewards in a battlepass.
In addition to Silvers, players could find five Shines scattered around the map. These translated to currency to be used in the official The Games game.
In-Game Information[]
Created as Driving Empire's contribution to the ROBLOX The Games event, the in-game event was tied to the actual game hub, using the same currencies ( Shines and Silvers) as other participating games. The event was initially teased on July 29, 2024, and released along with the full platform-wide event on August 1, 2024.
The functionality of the event was very similar to the Classic Event, featuring collectable objects and a battlepass using currency obtained by racing.
Shines[]
As with many other games participating in the ROBLOX The Games event, there were five Shines scattered around the map. Upon collecting a Shine, players would receive a badge, and Shine currency in the official The Games hub game.
Players could also purchase a "Shine Radar" gamepass for 49, which aided in finding Shines.
Races[]
Part of the uniqueness of The Games 2024 Event lies in its racing. To earn Silvers, players needed to race on the Obstacle Course Race. Despite being classified as a single race with one race queue, there were three different tracks. Starting a race would take the competing players to one of these three tracks.
Completing the Obstacle Course Race, regardless of the track, obstacles, finishing position, or race mode gave 180 as a reward, in addition to normal cash rewards. Without the cash boost, first place gave $15,000, second place gave $12,000, and third place gave $10,000.
Obstacles:[]
In addition to the three track options, obstacles are randomly generated every race. Every track has numerous spots for random obstacles, and they will be filled upon entering a race. There are several different types of obstacles.
The statues obstacle is the only stationary obstacle; they do not move. However, they cannot be knocked down. Coming into contact with a red flaming statue will cause the player to respawn at the previous checkpoint.
The spinning columns obstacle is a group of floating, spinning columns. The only way to overcome them is simply to drive in between them, or around them.
The elevating columns obstacle is a series of columns that rise out of the ground at different times. Players can avoid this obstacle by driving around them or between them, or by timing the obstacle.
The levitating objects obstacle is a group of pillars and orbs that raise up and drop to the ground at different times. In some cases, the orbs may be red and flaming instead of plain rock. Coming into contact with any red and flaming orbs results in returning to the previous checkpoint. Running into any of the other objects will only impede the player, but not send them back to the previous checkpoint, unless they are right below the object when it slams down on them. This obstacle can be avoided by timing it.
The fiery ramp obstacle is a horizontal line of fire with a stone ramp sliding from side to side. Failing to jump the ramp will result in coming into contact with the line of fire, sending the player to the previous checkpoint. This obstacle can be avoided by timing the ramp.
The pillar cart obstacle is a set of square tracks accompanied by a cart loaded with small pillars. The cart will move around the track, potentially causing players to run into them. This obstacle can be avoided by timing it.
The sliding wall obstacle is a large stone wall that slides from one side of the track to the other. This obstacle can be avoided by timing it.
The rotating pillars obstacle is a serious of pillars stacked on top of each other, spinning horizontally. This obstacle can be avoided by timing it.
Note that the same obstacles can spawn next to each other, meaning that layouts like two statue sets next to each other can occur.
Prizes[]
With the exception of the badges awarded for collecting Shines, all rewards came from the event battlepass, which as previously stated, used Silvers exclusively. As the event used the mechanics of a battlepass, rewards were given through claiming, not purchasing. This meant that the player would not lose anything when taking these rewards.
Players could also purchase an event booster that allowed twice the event progression. The booster had a price of 99.
